Yes, 15 years have already passed since that distant October of 2008 when a group of visionary students returning from an Erasmus course decided to found the first Italian Students’ Union. We want to celebrate this birthday together, retracing in a few small steps the path of what is now the most followed association and list of representatives of Polimi (a nod to our 12 thousand followers and the entire orange community).
Generations of Svoltinis have alternated over the years and yet, if we could travel back in time, we could say with a good margin of certainty that an orange common thread links past and present: completely different from each other, the members of Svoltastudenti have passions, ideas, visions and backgrounds that are often different and jaggered. A real mess, a seemingly failed project, don’t you think? On this complete diversity comes the strength of Svoltastudenti, a non-partisan and non-denominational association, heterogeneous but united under the motto beyond lessons: the university years can be the most enriching of our lives, it is not worth limiting ourselves to lectures and book studies: a sea of possibilities, ideas, projects, new friendships and unexpected adventures await us outside, which will remain indelible in our life experiences.
To carry forward this value, for fifteen years Svoltastudenti has been working in parallel between student representation and associationism, political proposals for the improvement of the University and the organisation of events, trips and activities that can open students’ minds.
Now, how can we explain to those who do not know us the energy that pervades and surrounds Svoltinis?
🏆 2008-2011 🏆 obtained the opening of the Patio space in Building 11 at Leonardo all day long
🌍 2011-2013 🌍 “The World @Polimi” project, meetings dedicated to the individual nations most represented at the Politecnico
🏅 2013-2015 🏅 established scholarships for students with sporting merit, enhanced associations with the first edition of the ATUXTU event
🙏 2015-2017 🙏 obtained reflection rooms, reserved and quiet spaces for personal religious and spiritual activities
❄️ 2017-2019 ❄️ organised the first Polimi Winter Gala, inclusion of the two February exam calls which are useful for the Bachelor’s degree in March
🌈 2019-2021 🌈 first and second edition of Polimi Pride Week
🧡 2021-2023 🧡 first physical space for student associations obtained
What is left of the past? What is Svoltastudenti today?
Svoltinis change, our beloved association remains and is now one of the main points of reference between students and the University. We are many, always different, always orange but, above all, always ready to welcome new voices and ideas to improve student life.
